NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – August 20, 2026 – Ascend Stewardship & Consulting, a church capital campaign consulting and financing firm headquartered in Salisbury, North Carolina, today announced the successful completion of a capital campaign for Northwood Baptist Church in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Southern Baptist congregation raised more than $2,200,000 in campaign pledges against a $1,200,000 goal, exceeding their target by more than 83 percent, with construction on a new youth and children’s complex now underway.
Northwood Baptist Church has a rich history of community service, outreach, and dynamic ministry to children, youth, and adults. The congregation had outgrown its existing children and youth space, constraining ministry programs and limiting the number of families the church could serve. Church leadership determined that a dedicated new complex was necessary and retained Ascend Stewardship & Consulting to guide both the capital campaign and the construction financing.
“Northwood Baptist had the congregational culture, the pastoral leadership, and the ministry track record to support a campaign of this size,” said Russ Priddy, founder of Ascend Stewardship & Consulting. “Our role was to provide the structure, the process, and the lending access that allowed the congregation to express that support in a result that will define the next chapter of their ministry.”
“The churches we serve are not just raising money. They are stepping into a vision,” said Michael Priddy, CEO of Ascend Stewardship & Consulting. “When the campaign and the financing are designed together from the beginning, the results consistently exceed what a church believes is possible.”
Ascend structured the engagement as a coordinated campaign and financing plan rather than two separate processes. The campaign goal was set with the financing structure in mind, and the pledge results gave Ascend’s church lending network the participation data and equity position needed to facilitate construction financing alongside the campaign. The approach is designed to honor Southern Baptist culture: congregational ownership of the vision, broad membership participation, and a case for support rooted in the church’s calling to invest in the next generation.
Construction on the new youth and children’s complex is underway. A spring building dedication is on the horizon.
