“God has given me so many opportunities to give back through the martial arts and my services to the community. I am thankful every day for what He allows me to do.” – Grandmaster Jamie Cashion

Cashion, who was promoted to 9th Degree Black Belt by Grandmaster Pat Burleson on April 21, 2018, has dedicated more than three decades of his life to the martial arts as a student, teacher and advocate. He has been honored by numerous martial arts organizations, including the Masters Hall of Fame, the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame, the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame, the Action Martial Arts Hall of Honor, the Martial Arts History Museum, Legends of The Martial arts Hall of Fame, The Who’s Who in The Martial Arts Hall of Fame, All Pro Tae Kwon Do Hall of Fame and The Elite Black Belt Hall of Fame. In addition to his efforts in the martial arts, Grandmaster Cashion is a first responder who has provided aid during natural disasters such as the 2013 Granbury, TX, EF-4 tornado and Hurricane Harvey in 2017. He also regularly gives back to the community through free lessons, special events and awards to community members.

The Battle of Atlanta is a world-renown competition that began in 1970 when nationally-rated fighter Joe Corley rented a high school gymnasium to put on the first Battle of Atlanta karate tournament. Over the years some of the greatest competitors in martial arts have taken part in the Battle of Atlanta, including Chuck Norris, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, Jeff Smith and Jean Claude Van Damme. Joe Lewis, the “Father of American Kickboxing” and the man for whom the award is named, was the event’s first champion.

“This was such a wonderful honor for me to be nominated for this award by Grandmasters Wallace and Smith,” said Grandmaster Cashion. “God has given me so many opportunities to give back through the martial arts and my services to the community. I am thankful every day for what He allows me to do.”
