American Food Fiesta Goa : September 16-22, 2016

Goa – US Government’s Department of Agriculture in India and Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI) have partnered together to do the first ever HORECA food and beverage festival in Goa. The objective of the promotion is to highlight high quality U.S. origin food and beverages like Washington apples, Californian Almonds, American cranberries, pecans, BBQ sauces, pop corns, tofu, sauces, dry pea and lentils, and many others.

Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI), is an Apex chamber, which represents over 6500 importers and gourmet retailers from India and work closely with various country governments and Government of India to benefit the member importers and with an objective to bring international products to the end consumers.

Ten premium five star hotels and restaurants are working in association to create ‘Grand American Food Fiesta’ and have developed exclusive menu using U.S origin products in fusion with Indian ingredients. Celebrity Master Chef Bill Marchetti along with the team of chefs from partnering joints has prepared an exclusive menu and said, “the concept of fusion is getting global and as a chef it gives me immense pleasure to create menu using high quality American Ingredients.”

Mr. Scott Sindelar, serving as Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at United States embassy New Delhi, said we are glad to see the great response from the major hotels in Goa. This activity is about melting cultures and bridging people together with one common language that is food while India has a wide range of products like basmati rice and aromatic spices we bring on board some U.S. origin ingredients to complement those and offer a wide array to the consumers. Mr. Adam Branson, Senior Agricultural Attaché, Office of Agricultural Affairs, at United States consulate in Mumbai was present at the launch event to support the U.S. agricultural goods. Mr. Branson did visit all the partnering restaurants and personally extended his gratitude towards all participants.

In a goodwill message, Mr. Amit Lohani, Founder Director, FIFI welcomed visitors to the event and said that they have reached out to over 45, 000 consumers via this event and are expecting interest from retailers, hotels, restaurants, service providers, and consumers. He also, said that he is pleased to note the growing trends in the industry and interest in Indian market from countries like United States of America, which clearly indicates growing interest in international food category. He also thanked FIFI members and US cooperator representatives and said this event will not have been possible without their active participation.
