At some point in life, everyone has gone through a rough patch coupled with dark moments where they thought they wouldn’t make it. During those moments, one’s will to live is tested and without proper guidance chances of giving up are very high. It is impossible to quantify the amount of stress every person goes through but it safe to say that there are groups of people who have seen darker days, most notably the veterans. Most of them suffer from PTSD and the suicide rates among them is high mostly because they have no one to turn to when things become bleak.  

Art Therapy campaign is dedicated towards offering a helping hand to veterans and other community members that could use it. Ryan Rippinger, a community member of Saint Charles, IL, seeks to mobilize funds through a GoFundMe campaign to launch a community space that will be a safe haven for those struggling and going through a hard time. As a veteran and painting and remodeling professional, Ryan will teach those that attend art therapy his skills. 

Even though the Art Therapy campaign is for veterans, the community space will be open to all members of the public. It will be a symbol of a community’s love for its veterans and the beginning of a great collaboration towards community growth. All money collected from this campaign will be channeled towards the launch of the art therapy center and the remainder will be used to cater for rent and purchase of extra supplies.  When things get tough and one can’t see a way forward, suicide could be a very temping thought. It is great initiatives like the art therapy campaign that give veterans a fighting chance. This is why such noble causes deserve more recognition and the only way that can happen is if more people donated towards them.
