In the Alpine Union School District, students express themselves and develop valuable skills through music and performing arts programs. In the district, students have the opportunity to participate in theatre and band programs.
Last year, the students at Joan MacQueen Middle School were able to put on a production of “The Little Mermaid.” The students, along with help and direction from teachers, put on a 60-minute version of The Little Mermaid based on the broadway and film adaptations. Led by Mrs. Michelle McIntyre, forty students were able to participate in the play for two nights.
Students at JMMS are also able to develop new talents through the band program. Students in the band program were able to attend the Music Festival in Irvine and showcase their skills in different areas. Both the band and the trash can percussion group competed and received awards. The band receiving a silver rating and the trashcan percussion earned a gold rating!
The Alpine Union School District loves creating opportunities for students to discover new talents and sharpen valuable life skills. The benefits of these programs will hopefully extend far beyond middle school and into the rest of the student’s lives.
