Alfa Chemistry Offers Precious Metal Catalysts Recovery and Refining Services

On February 5, 2018, Alfa Chemistry launched to offer metal catalysts recovery and refining services to their customers, especially industrial precious metals waste recycling and refining services. The industrial precious metals including heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts in petrochemical, fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries; and precious metal alloy in nitrate, fiberglass and jewelry industries.

Precious metal catalyst refers to a precious metal material that change the chemical reaction rate. Almost any precious metal can be used as catalyst and the most commonly-used metals are platinum, palladium, rhodium, silver, ruthenium, and among them, the platinum, rhodium is the most widely used. With high catalytic activity, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance, that’s why these metals become the most important catalysts. Precious metal catalysts are widely used in hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, oxidation, reduction, isomerization, aromatization, synthesis, and cracking reaction due to their excellent activity, selectivity and stability, so that they play a very important role in the fields of chemical engineering, petroleum refining, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, environmental protection and new energy.

As we know, precious metal catalysts are a very scarce resource, so that’s why the precious metal catalysts recovery and refining process plays a significant role in this area. Alfa Chemistry has overcame a series of technical problems through scientific and technological experiments while capturing the environmental problems in the recovery process. In the metal refinery of Alfa Chemistey, the fresh catalysts will be extracted from the precious metal waste materials via destroying the raw materials with a series of steps (see figure below).

“So far, our company has made breakthrough progress in recycling rhodium octoate catalyst waste materials to get fresh rhodium catalysts. Our pathway owed the company’s cost and improved economic efficiency,” said Brenda Randy, the marketing manager of Alfa Chemistry.
