AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION’S STATE STEM TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDED TO EDUCATOR DANIEL SCHNEIDER

Amphitheater School District is proud of the exemplary staff at the district. Each year the Air Force Association selects a State STEM Teacher of the Year which honors exceptional K-12 educators who make a profound difference in the lives of their students and in their communities. These educators make significant impacts in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math education.

Recipient Dan Schneider with Amphitheater High School principal, Jon Lansa, on the night Schneider was recognized

This year, the Air Force Association awarded Daniel Schneider of Amphitheater High School as the recipient. Mr. Schneider teaches computer science and prepares his students to be the next leaders and innovators in STEM fields. His work extends beyond the classroom as he strives to connect students with people in the community who can give them a glimpse into career and education pathways students may not have previously considered.

Mr. Schneider teaches Computer Science Discoveries, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science, and Electronics Technologies at Amphitheater High. He discloses that a defining moment in his education path was “Deciding to be a teacher rather than a computer programmer.” His ability to connect with students and help them to be engaged and grow attests that he chose wisely!

The core educational belief of Schneider also confirms why he was honored, he says, “Intelligence is not ‘fixed’- with effort and practice, anyone can learn something new or get better at something they struggle with.” Applying that belief, Mr. Schneider has changed lives.

Always encouraging and pushing his students, Mr. Schneider is also the the founder and sponsor of the Girl Power STEM club and the Future Business Leaders of America at Amphitheater High School. Students have been empowered through his efforts to guide and broaden their horizons.
