With its lyrical storytelling and heartfelt themes, this delightful book strengthens imagination, encourages problem-solving, and reminds every child that the world is full of beauty.
What inspired you to write Four Seasons With The Poppets?
Four Seasons with the Poppets began as a gift of comfort and imagination for my grandchildren during the uncertainty of the COVID quarantine. What started as a single fairytale to bring them joy has blossomed into a growing series: At Home with the Poppets and In the Play Yard with the Poppets which are now in print, with two additional titles headed to my publisher, who has requested first rights due to the series’ early success.
How did your background and experience influence your writing?
My time teaching at Waldorf preschool deeply shaped the way I approach storytelling. It was during that time that I first created the Poppet characters: simple, handmade figures designed to spark imaginative play. During the quiet of the COVID quarantine, I finally had the space to expand their world, transforming those early creations into the rich, whimsical adventures that now fill the Poppet books.
What is one message you would like readers to remember?
As I state on the back covers of my books, “When children use their imagination, it develops their ability to problem solve.” My focus is to encourage imaginative, creative play, giving children a break from reactionary play, which has become so prevalent in today’s world.
