MIAMI, Florida – October 19, 2026 – Peruvian nature photographer Boris Saavedra has announced the release of his new documentary, Invasion of the Everglades, on November 20, 2026. The film follows Saavedra and a small international crew on a journey through Florida’s Everglades, capturing its landscapes, its wildlife and the local volunteers who give their time to protect it.
A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY
Saavedra set out to understand how the Everglades is changing and what it takes to keep its natural balance healthy. What began as a photography trip became a story about people. Along the way, the crew met conservation volunteers and longtime local guides who shared what the wetlands mean to them and to the communities that depend on them.
“I came to photograph one thing and left with a much richer story,” said Saavedra. “The Everglades is full of life, and full of people who care deeply about it.”
ABOUT THE EVERGLADES
Known as the “River of Grass,” the Everglades is a wide, slow-moving sheet of fresh water flowing across South Florida. Everglades National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Biosphere Reserve and a Wetland of International Importance. The region is home to hundreds of bird species, turtles and manatees, and it helps supply fresh water to millions of Florida residents.
WETLANDS: A SHARED GLOBAL TREASURE
Wetlands around the world, from the Everglades in the United States to the Amazon in South America and the Niger Delta in West Africa, filter water, protect coastlines and support millions of livelihoods. Saavedra hopes the film encourages audiences everywhere to appreciate the natural spaces in their own countries and the people who look after them.
