Ever wonder what it’s like to actually live in a haunted house? THE SUBLET, a new feature film from Director John Ainslie, captures one couples life within their new, haunted apartment. Starring Tianna Nori (Joanna) and Mark Matechuk (Jeff), the couples’ battle with depression awakens the violent, lonely ghost of the apartment’s past tenant.

1. Edgar Allen Poe’s Resting Place (Baltimore, Maryland)
Interested in encountering the ghost of America’s famous writer? Edgar Allen Poe (1809 – 1849), legendary poet (“The Raven”) and writer of mysterious short stories (“The Tell-Tale Heart”) lies in his final resting place at the Westminster Hall and Burying Ground.

2. “American Horror Story: Coven” – The LaLaurie House (New Orleans, LA)
“Coven”, the third season of FX’s horror series “American Horror Story” shows real-life horror through the character of Madame LaLaurie (Kathy Bates) and her New Orleans mansion, where she was known to torture and mutilate her household slaves.
The mansion (“Madame LaLaurie’s House of Horrors”) is located at: 1140 Royal St. in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
3. “The Exorcist” Steps (Washington, D.C.)
Located in Washington, D.C. are the famous steps in the first supernatural horror film franchise, “The Exorcist” (1973). The steps alongside the house can be recognized from the scene of Father Karrass’s fall.

4. Al Capone and his Gangsters (Chicago, IL)
On Valentine’s Day of 1929, Chicago gangsters swapped flowers and chocolates for bullets and firearms. Seven men were lined up against a wall, located at 2122 North Clark Street. There, the legendary lead gangster, Al Capone, and his Prohibition-Era gangsters, gunned down the men. To this day, this event is known as one of the bloodiest days in Chicago’s history.
5. The House of Seven Gables (Salem, MA)
Witches and dark magic aren’t the only things that haunt Salem, Massachusetts. The House of the Seven Gables (Turner-Ingersoll House) is a famous 17th-century historic landmark, preserved for its inspiration for Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel, “The House of The Seven Gables”. It is one of the oldest surviving mansions and is now a non-profit museum.

6. The Overlook Hotel (Estes Park, CO)
Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film adaptation of Stephen King’s same-name novel, “The Shining”, is recognized as one of the greatest horror films in history. During the winter, Jack (Jack Nicholson) and his family are trapped within the isolated Overlook Hotel.
The Overlook Hotel was inspired King’s one-night stay at The Stanley Hotel in 1973. If you’re creeped out easily, request Room 217 (King’s room).

7. Comic-sensation: Ghostbusters (St. Augustine, FL)
The St. Augustine Lighthouse was featured on the popular comic, “Ghostbusters International #1” (2016). “Ghostbusters #1” was the first of three volumes, concluding in a major franchise. The comic takes readers on the journey to defend and fight against the Ghost Alligators.
