2t16m Full Folding Knuckle Boom Telescopic Deck Crane Passes BV Tests – Ready for Shipment Next Week

This week, MAXTECH’s factory welcomed a surveyor from Bureau Veritas (BV) to conduct a complete on‑site product test on a 2‑tonne, 16‑metre full folding knuckle boom telescopic deck crane. After stringent inspections – including no‑load function tests, load lifting trials, dynamic performance checks, and safety device verification – the Crane successfully passed the BV certification test. Following the BV test, MAXTECH carried out an additional round of internal testing to even stricter standards. All performance indicators exceeded design requirements, and no issues were found. The crane is scheduled to be packed and shipped to the customer’s destination next week.

1. A Popular Model, Sold Worldwide

This full knuckle telescopic crane is one of the most popular models in MAXTECH’s product range. It features a fully hydraulic Knuckle Boom combined with a telescopic section. When fully folded, its height is extremely low, ensuring it does not obstruct the bridge view – an ideal characteristic for installation on ships with limited deck space. At the same time, the telescopic boom provides a maximum working radius of 16 m, offering both flexibility and extended reach.

Over the past year, MAXTECH has designed and delivered multiple marine cranes of the same type but with different parameters (capacities from 1 t to 5 t, radii from 12 m to 20 m) to customers in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions. Customer feedback has been consistently positive: compact folded stowage, flexible operation, low failure rate, and excellent suitability for chemical tankers, bulk carriers, and offshore supply vessels.

2. Strong Market Demand – Multiple Units Already in Production

Thanks to the good reputation in the market, the number of enquiries for this crane model has grown significantly since the beginning of this year. Enquiries come from shipowners, shipyards, and equipment rental companies. Currently, several units of the same series are being produced in parallel at MAXTECH’s Wuxi and Nantong factories, and will be delivered to customers in different countries.

MAXTECH’s production department has established a fast‑response mechanism for this popular model, maintaining safety stock of key components and using modular design drawings. This ensures high quality while shortening delivery lead times.

3. BV Certification + In‑House Testing – Double Assurance of Quality

The BV surveyor witnessed the entire test process:

  • No‑load test – Smooth folding, telescoping, and slewing motions; responsive control system.

  • Load test – At rated load (2 t) and 125% dynamic load (2.5 t), structural deflection was well below the allowable limits, and brake lowering distance was less than specification requirements.

  • Safety device check – The load moment indicator, anemometer, limit switches, and all other safety devices functioned correctly, with timely overload protection activation.

After the BV test, MAXTECH’s quality team performed an additional 8‑hour continuous simulation test that included frequent folding, telescoping, and slewing combination movements. The crane showed no leakage, abnormal noise, or excessive temperature rise. This “double‑checked” test procedure ensures that the 2t16m full folding knuckle boom telescopic Deck Crane is delivered to the customer in optimal condition.
