January 16, 2016 – Venezuela is known for its beauty queens and salsa music. Having won Miss Universe pageant for 7(seven) times, and home to the rhythmic Latin music pioneered by Oscar de Leon, Venezuela is where it all happens.
Recently, Venezuela is becoming the epicenter of Latin America’s Contemporary Christian music movement. The ChristianPost in 2016 reported that in the midst of economic and political chaos thousands of evangelical Christians gather at local parks to worship.
The music they worship to is being composed by top Venezuelan Christian music artists, and the most popular of them is Christian Sebastia Almenar. He is popularly known as Christain Sebastia and is known as the face of Venezuela’s Christian music industry. When the most prominent artists of the genre worldwide, like Grammy-winning Marcos Witt, visit Venezuela, they go to Sebastia to produce their concerts.
Christian was born in Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar, Venezuela on May 7, 1974. He is a singer, musician, producer, and composer.
From 2006 to 2015, Christian was as Pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ, along with his wife, Eukarys Sebastia. Christian has come to stand out as one of the most famous Christian singers and producers in the musical scene of the Christian community in Venezuela and is a contemporary proponent of Praise and Worship also called Gospel music.
Christian Sebastia married Eukarys Piña in 1996, and they are blessed with three children: Sabrina Sebastia (1999), Christain Sebastia Jr. (2005), and Samantha Sebastia (2003).
The first production where Christian Sebastia participated as a singer was La Familia / The Family a production of 10 songs made in 1986 and produced by his father, interpreting 2 songs.
Sebastia has been producing, composing and singing since 1986, but it was 2003 when he launched his first album titled “En Ti” which he produced along with his father a second generation Pastor. Since then, Sebastia set in motion the Venezuelan Contemporary Christian music industry to its current popular state.
Sebastia has produced for and sang alongside other major musicians such as the award winning Marcos Witt, Monica Rodriguez, Irlanda Becerra, and Edward Bradley.
Sebastia’s latest projects include two new albums titled “Tu Amor” (Your Love) and Ruaj. Sebastia also recently produced and performed at “Juntos por Venezuela” (Together for Venezuela) a charitable concert which was a gathering of Latin America’s most important Christian musicians to raise awareness and funds for people suffering Venezuela’s economic and political woes.
Carlos Almarza, Grammy winner and one of Latin America Christian music’s most important producers, says that Sebastia is a “trailblazer who with his music paved the way for modern Christian music to become mainstream in Venezuela.”
Sebastia has won three Mara de Oro awards for his productions, Venezuela’s highest national award for musicians.
