Brian LaBrec has purchased a lot on West Main Street in Dudley that will serve as the new home base for Earth Shaper Services, LLC, the excavation company he owns and operates.
LaBrec said the property will house the company’s equipment, including excavators, skid steers, and plow trucks, and will act as a staging point for jobs across the region. He declined to share a street address while the site is still being set up, but confirmed the lot is on West Main Street.
“We’ve been running out of a setup that worked fine when it was a smaller operation,” LaBrec said. “This gives us room. It means the equipment is ready to go in the morning instead of us moving pieces around to get to what we need.”
Earth Shaper Services handles excavation, grading, and site preparation work for homeowners and commercial clients in Dudley and surrounding towns. The company also installs and repairs septic systems, does drainage and yard regrading, and takes on demolition, land clearing, and landscaping projects. In winter, its crews plow driveways and parking lots for residential and commercial customers.
LaBrec said consolidating the equipment in one location should be most noticeable heading into winter, when quick response time matters for plowing calls.
“A lot of people call us after they’ve already got water in the basement,” LaBrec said, describing a common drainage complaint. “It’s usually a grading problem. It’s fixable, but it’s easier to fix before the damage.”
The company works primarily in Dudley, Oxford, Webster, and Southbridge. LaBrec said the new property will not expand that service area so much as strengthen the company’s ability to serve it.
“We’re not trying to be everywhere,” he said. “We’re trying to be the ones who show up on time in the towns we already know.”
The expansion comes with a hiring push. Earth Shaper Services is currently looking to fill both skilled and entry-level positions, including equipment and excavator operators and landscaping laborers. LaBrec said no experience is required for entry-level roles and that the company trains on the job.
“There’s a trade here that people don’t always think about,” he said. “You can learn to run a machine and build a career out of it. We’ll teach somebody who wants to learn.”
Operations are expected to transition to the West Main Street property over the coming weeks.
