TORONTO, Ontario – August 10, 2026 – Immigration News Canada has launched a new interactive OINP calculator designed to help immigration candidates estimate their Expression of Interest score under Ontario’s newly introduced Workforce Priority Stream.
The new OINP Calculator for the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream is based on the scoring framework published by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program for 2026.
Candidates can enter information relating to their occupation, Ontario employment, work experience, education, language ability, Canadian earnings history, immigration status and work location to generate an estimated Expression of Interest score.
Ontario’s redesigned Workforce Priority Stream uses four major scoring categories: employment and labour market factors, education, language and regionalization.
Job offer applicants can receive a maximum of 130 points under the scoring framework. Self-employed physicians can receive a maximum of 115 points because the hourly wage scoring factor does not apply to the physician pathway.
The Immigration News Canada calculator automatically changes applicable questions depending on whether the user selects the job offer or self-employed physician pathway. The estimated score updates as information is entered and provides a breakdown showing how points are distributed across the four scoring categories.
Ontario’s employment and labour market category considers factors including National Occupational Classification TEER category, broad occupational category, hourly wage where applicable, Ontario work experience, Canadian earnings history and legal status in Canada.
Education can contribute up to 20 points, while language factors can contribute up to 25 points.
Regionalization can contribute another 15 points. Northern Ontario receives the highest regional allocation, while Eastern Ontario, Central Ontario outside the Greater Toronto Area and Southwestern Ontario receive 10 points. Locations within the GTA but outside Toronto receive five points, while the City of Toronto receives zero regionalization points.
Ontario’s new scoring framework represents a significant change for candidates familiar with previous OINP Expression of Interest systems.
“Ontario’s redesigned immigration system has introduced an entirely different way of ranking candidates, and applicants need a simple way to understand how the new factors affect their profile,” said Kamal Deep Singh, RCIC and editor of Immigration News Canada. “We developed the calculator so candidates can estimate their score and understand the individual factors before registering an Expression of Interest.”
The calculator is intended as an informational scoring tool and does not determine whether an applicant is eligible for nomination.
Ontario has stated that Expression of Interest scoring factors are separate from the eligibility requirements of the Workforce Priority Stream. Applicants must meet the applicable stream criteria and provide documentation supporting the points they claim.
