Arambol, North Goa – NamahStay Hostel is proud to announce that it will serve as the official host of the third edition of the CINEMAYA Filmmaking Residency, an immersive learning experience led by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Kamal Swaroop.
The residency will be hosted in Arambol, close to the creative and cultural setting of Arambol Beach, bringing together a carefully selected group of emerging filmmakers, cinema students and independent creators.
Applications for the residency will open after India’s Independence Day on August 15, 2026. Limited to only 20 participants, the programme is designed to create an intimate and focused environment in which aspiring directors, writers, visual storytellers and filmmaking students can engage directly with Kamal Swaroop and develop a deeper understanding of cinema.
Known for his unconventional approach to storytelling and his influential contribution to Indian experimental cinema, Kamal Swaroop offers participants a rare opportunity to learn from a filmmaker whose work has consistently challenged established cinematic forms.
Through conversations, screenings, practical exploration and collective learning, the residency aims to encourage participants to discover their own cinematic language rather than simply follow conventional filmmaking formulas.
The third edition carries a special connection to the spirit of Independence Day. By opening applications after August 15, CINEMAYA and NamahStay will celebrate independent creators—filmmakers who think freely, take creative risks and remain committed to developing original voices.
