Specialty Hardware Tests Next-Day Shipping On American-Made Barn Door Kits
Goldberg Brothers barn door hardware, traditionally sold on a 10-to-15-business-day made-to-order basis, will be available for next-business-day shipping through The Barn Door Hardware Store beginning April 27. The program covers the Classic J-Strap Kit in Matte Black and Silver Metallic finishes.

The U.S. specialty hardware market is being pulled between two opposing forces: a buyer base that increasingly expects two-day delivery on home improvement products, and a manufacturing tradition built around made-to-order, domestically produced craftsmanship. The barn door hardware category has become a clear example of that tension.

A 2025 consumer delivery study published by Sifted found that roughly 60% of U.S. shoppers now expect free two-day shipping as a default, while only an estimated 35% of retailers can consistently meet it. Separate 2025 research found 86% of consumers define “fast delivery” as two days or less, with 55% willing to pay extra for same-day or next-day fulfillment. Those expectations, set by mass-market e-commerce, have moved into categories where they were not previously the norm — including specialty interior hardware.

The U.S. residential remodeling market, which absorbs most barn door hardware sales, is projected to reach roughly $509 billion in 2025, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University. Allied Market Research valued the U.S. barn door hardware segment at $164.1 million in 2022 and projects it to reach $287 million by 2032, a compound annual growth rate of 5.6%.

Goldberg Brothers, a Colorado-based manufacturer with roots in metal fabrication dating back to the late 19th century, has historically operated on a made-to-order production model, with standard lead times of 10 to 15 business days before an order ships. Industry trade coverage throughout 2024 and 2025 has consistently flagged material lead-time variability as one of the most disruptive scheduling factors in residential remodeling projects.

The Barn Door Hardware Store, an online specialty retailer that carries hardware from multiple U.S. manufacturers, is among the first sellers to test an inventory-stocked alternative for the Goldberg Brothers line. According to the company, the Classic J-Strap Kit was selected because it is the retailer’s highest-volume Goldberg Brothers product, and the Matte Black and Silver Metallic finishes account for the majority of orders placed for that kit. Inventory of those configurations will be held in stock and orders fulfilled the next business day. Any expansion will depend on demand patterns following the April 27 launch.
