Alpine Edge Landscape Lighting completed a full remodel of a 1.5-acre estate in Cherry Hills Village, originally designed in 2001 by Nate Mullins. The outdated system was upgraded with modern fixtures, smart controls, and a redesigned layout to match the now mature landscape. The project honors the original vision while delivering a high-performance system built for today’s outdoor living.

Cherry Hills Village, CO – Alpine Edge Landscape Lighting has completed a large-scale landscape lighting renovation on a 1.5-acre estate in Cherry Hills Village, originally designed and installed in 2001 by industry legend Nate Mullins, former owner and designer behind Unique Lighting Systems.

The project presented a rare opportunity to revisit and reimagine a legacy design that had gone decades without proper maintenance. With the property’s landscape now fully matured, Alpine Edge was tasked with modernizing the system while preserving the original design intent that made it special.

“This project meant a lot more than just replacing fixtures,” said Bryan, owner of Alpine Edge Landscape Lighting. “Over my 22-year career in lighting, I’ve worked on a lot of properties, but this one was different. Getting to step onto a project that Nate originally designed, and then 25 years later walk the same grounds and see it through his lens, that was something really special.”

The renovation included a full system overhaul, replacing outdated components with high-performance brass fixtures and long-life LED lamps, along with upgraded smart controls for improved efficiency and flexibility. The design was carefully adapted to accommodate significant landscape growth, including mature spruce and pine trees, as well as ornamental plantings.

Key features of the project include architectural facade washing, strategic uplighting of mature trees, custom arbor lighting over a dining terrace, enhanced step lighting for safety, and full illumination of a backyard putting green—now one of the most used spaces on the property after dark.

In total, 163 fixtures were installed across the estate, with all work completed in time for peak summer outdoor use.

Alpine Edge Landscape Lighting views the project as both a technical achievement and a tribute to the craftsmanship and design standards established by one of the industry’s early pioneers.

“To be trusted with updating a design from someone like Nate Mullins is an honor,” Bryan added. “Our goal was to respect the original vision while bringing it forward to meet today’s expectations. I think we did that.”
