Brazil-021 Chicago announces a free women’s self-defense seminar on March 8th to celebrate International Women’s Day. The jiu jitsu seminar runs from 11 AM-1 PM and teaches practical BJJ self-defense techniques. All women welcome, registration required.

CHICAGO, IL – February 10, 2026 – Brazil-021 Chicago Headquarters will host a free women’s self-defense seminar on Saturday, March 8th from 11 AM to 1 PM in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event is open to all women in the Chicago area who want to learn practical jiu jitsu techniques for personal safety.

The two-hour seminar will be held at Brazil-021’s Chicago headquarters location at 2643 West Chicago Avenue on the second floor. Registration is required and can be completed by registering at https://brazil021chicago.com.

“International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to empower women with practical skills that can enhance their safety and confidence,” said a representative from the women’s self-defense classes Chicago academy. “We’re proud to offer this free seminar as our way of celebrating and supporting women in our community.”

Practical Self-Defense Training

The seminar will focus on real-world self-defense applications of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, teaching techniques that don’t rely on size or strength. Participants will learn:

  • Situational awareness and threat recognition
  • Escape techniques from common grabs and holds
  • Ground defense and escape strategies
  • Practical BJJ applications for self-defense scenarios
  • Confidence-building through hands-on practice

All instruction will be provided by experienced Brazil-021 instructors who specialize in teaching women’s self-defense. The seminar is designed to be accessible to complete beginners while also providing value to those with some martial arts experience.

Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Women’s Self-Defense

Chicago Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has gained recognition as one of the most effective martial arts for self-defense, particularly for women. Unlike striking-based martial arts, BJJ focuses on leverage, technique, and body mechanics that allow a smaller person to defend against a larger attacker.

“BJJ is unique because it was designed to allow the weaker person to overcome the stronger person through proper technique,” the representative explained. “This makes it ideal for women’s self-defense. Our students gain real skills and genuine confidence.”

The academy’s women’s program has grown significantly in recent years, with many women discovering both the practical self-defense benefits and the fitness and community aspects of regular BJJ training.

Free Event Celebrating Women’s Empowerment

In honor of International Women’s Day, Brazil-021 Chicago is offering this seminar completely free of charge. The academy believes that every woman should have access to quality self-defense training, and this event removes financial barriers to that education.

While the seminar is free, registration is required to ensure appropriate class size and individual attention for all participants. Women can register by visiting https://brazil021chicago.com with their name and contact information.

Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring water. All necessary training equipment will be provided by the academy.
