Award-winning author Amy Safford announces the continuation of her critically acclaimed Goode Vibrations novel series with the October 25, 2025, release of Book II: Goode Vibrations of the Dead River Valley. The series masterfully blends supernatural suspense with historical fiction to explore the hidden chapters of New England history that continue to shape our present.

The Goode Vibrations Series follows Penelope “Pennie” Goode, a young woman haunted by visions and dreams that bridge the spiritual gap between past and present. Pennie senses the vibrations of spirits around her, those of people who were reinterred in mass graves or who marched through the woods of western Maine centuries ago. Through her supernatural dreams, readers witness real traumatic events from Maine’s history, connecting memory, loss, and the ongoing fight for justice and truth.

In Book I: Goode Vibrations of the Wresting Place, the supernatural shift of Penelope Goode begins after a near-death experience. She senses her first vibrations at a graveyard: spirits of the Malaga Island settlement, an interracial community reinterred on these very grounds after a forced exile a century ago. By unearthing the past, Pennie discovers this haunting Maine history and realizes the power of her dreams and visions to fight for justice.

The debut novel garnered extraordinary recognition, receiving three international literary awards: the 2025 Eric Hoffer Spiritual Fiction Award, the Eric Hoffer First Horizon Book Award, and the Independent Publishers IPPY Silver Medal for Visionary/New Age Fiction. Amy was also named a finalist in the 2025 Independent Author Network, 2024 American Book Fest, and 2025 Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance Fiction Awards. The Booklife Prize Critics Report praised the novel, noting that the storyline is “well-paced and consistently illuminating, with Maine’s unique coastal heritage and bold mix of past and present day combining effectively to create a page-turner.”

Book II: Goode Vibrations of the Dead River Valley continues Pennie’s supernatural journey as she travels to the mountains of northwestern Maine to help a relative threatened with losing his property. In the shadow of Mount Bigelow, she finds herself immersed in a community of loggers, hunters, and fishers, sensing the vibrations of hardy souls who once settled in the river valley. Her visions transport her to the days before the valley’s villages were flooded by the power company, and even deeper into history to witness Benedict Arnold’s epic Revolutionary War expedition through the untamed wilderness. By sensing the many vibrations of the land’s storied history, Pennie discovers past injustices and connects America’s fight for freedom 250 years ago to her continued fight for individual rights today.

The series explores themes of memory and loss, racial injustice, cultural erasure, and the persistent echoes of trauma across generations, all wrapped in a page-turning supernatural suspense narrative that keeps readers riveted.
