For 25 years Dan Krause has operated more than just a law firm, he’s built a trusted institution rooted in the heart of Oregon, Wisconsin. What began as a small, local practice has grown into one of the state’s most respected authorities in estate planning and elder law. This year, as Attorney Krause celebrates 25 years of serving Wisconsin families, the milestone stands as both a testament to local dedication and a story of statewide influence.
Founded in 2000, the firm started much like many small-town law practices: with a single attorney, a clear vision, and a deep commitment to the community. In the early years, Krause handled a variety of legal matters, but soon began to focus the firm’s mission i.e. making estate planning accessible, personal, and practical for Wisconsin families.
“Estate planning isn’t just about documents,” says Attorney Krause. “It’s about people, families, and the lives they’ve built. It’s about using our experience to make sure their hard work is protected, their wishes are honored, and their loved ones are cared for.”
Krause’s strong sense of local and national service and commitment is demonstrated by his background as a founding member of the local chapter of Knights of Columbus, and his time as their Grand Knight; status as a veteran of the US Army (retired JAG); years as President of the Oregon School Board; and his Peace Corps service in Kenya. During his law career, he was called into active service by the Army numerous times, and had to put his law practice on hold, always returning to it when he was able.
His credential as a Board-Certified Estate Planning Law Specialist*, a distinction held by only a select few in the country, affirms his dedication to his practice. That commitment to service has helped transform his small Oregon office into a firm with multiple locations and clients across Wisconsin, all while maintaining the welcoming, neighborly feel of its original hometown.
Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center represents both a local, approachable law firm and big-time expertise. Over 25 years, the firm has guided thousands of families through the complexities of estate planning, long-term care strategies, Medicaid planning, trust administration, and legacy preservation. Its expansion has allowed more families throughout the state to benefit from the quality of services that were once only accessible in big cities.
The firm’s growth doesn’t come at the expense of its small-town values. “We’re proud to call Oregon home,” Krause says. “Even as our reach has expanded, our roots remain here– where our heart is.”
Today, Krause Estate Planning leads not only through legal experience but through innovation. The firm integrates technology with personal, friendly service. From its signature client care program KARE to educational seminars that bring practical estate planning knowledge directly to communities, Krause continues to empower Wisconsin families with clarity and confidence.
“As we celebrate 25 years, we’re really celebrating the families who have trusted us,” Krause reflects. “Oregon is our home, and we’ll never lose that local connection, even as we help families across the state.”
With its core values of Love, Integrity, Compassion, Teamwork, and Constant Improvement, Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center looks to the next 25 years with the same commitment that began all those years ago; a small-town firm with statewide impact.
