Qi Shen: Architecting the Future of Global Creator Commerce

NYC, New York – August 4, 2025 – As commerce, content, and community converge in the digital era, few professionals shape this future as profoundly as Qi Shen, Senior Product Manager at TikTok. With over a decade of experience across China’s most influential tech firms — JD.com, Alibaba, and ByteDance—Shen has become a key architect of the infrastructure powering the creator economy across borders.

From scalable incentive engines to intelligent onboarding systems, Qi Shen builds not features but ecosystems that align market opportunity with cultural nuance. “A feature without context is just noise,” she says. “What I aim to lead is a system—modular, scalable, and meaningful for both users and business.”

TikTok Shop Creator Agency Platform

Shen’s most recent success, the TikTok Shop Global Creator Agency Platform, reflects this philosophy. Launched in November 2023, the platform enables influencer agencies to manage and scale creator-brand partnerships across the U.S., EU, Southeast Asia, Brazil, and Japan.

Now onboarding 30,000+ brands and 200,000+ creators daily, the platform generates $2 million in daily GMV from the U.S. alone and nearly $5 million globally. It offers smart brand-agency matching, regional compliance flows, and KPI-rich dashboards to improve transparency, efficiency, and growth at scale.

“Our goal was to empower influencer agencies to scale globally without compromising on compliance, speed, or data visibility,” said Shen, who led the platform’s 0-to-1 development and rollout. “Each country has its own market rules, but our system offers a unified, intelligent entry point for global growth.”

Education & Global Perspective

Shen’s global perspective is rooted in an extraordinary academic path. She entered Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Gifted Youth Program at age 15, majoring in information engineering. A two-year exchange and internships in France gave her bilingual fluency and a global mindset. She later returned to Xi’an Jiaotong for her master’s, blending engineering rigor with international sensitivity.

“Whether you’re launching a platform for Paris or Jakarta, the human needs are often similar, but the constraints and cultures are not. Great product work begins with empathy and respect,” she explains.

Educating the Next Generation

In 2025, Shen was invited to lecture at Lingnan University’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies, where she spoke to Master’s students of cross-disciplinary technologies and new media. Her lecture covered her early academic journey, global work experience, and insights into the evolving creator economy.

She explained how short videos and livestreaming transformed from pandemic-era necessities into dominant channels for e-commerce, how ByteDance’s platform ecosystem (TikTok, CapCut, Lemon8, Resso) has redefined global content distribution, and why platform fairness matters. Her message to students: find work that aligns with your values and lead systems that reflect inclusion and sustainability.

Women in Tech Leadership

Despite working in a male-dominated field, Shen emphasizes leadership and system thinking over identity. Still, she mentors young women and advocates for inclusive operational logic: “My role is to lead by example and embed fairness into the structure itself—who we imagine as default users, what voices we prioritize, and how we ensure equitable access.”

Looking Forward

Now focusing on AI-assisted matchmaking tools, privacy-preserving content systems, and decentralized creator collaboration, Shen continues to push the boundaries of what global digital commerce can become.

“Global commerce isn’t just about transactions. It’s about trust, identity, and community,” she concludes. “As platform leaders, we have the responsibility to build systems that reflect those values.”
