Zombie films have been loved by the horror genre for years, despite its ups and downs, it has steadily received – especially those considered ‘new wave of zombie movies’ – ones about the chaotic and uncontrollable fall of social order due to the apocalypse.
TriCoast Worldwide will bring zombie-lovers and horror-fans the best ‘new wave of zombie movies’ to Hong Kong with representation of Emmanuel Saez’s (‘Overcast’, ‘The Roads of Fear’) intelligent, French, post-apocalyptic thriller, ‘ANGELS VS. ZOMBIES’, the retelling of the New Testament with the ultimate twist – Satan’s army of the dead has risen. The film will compete in Asia’s oldest and most reputable platforms for filmmakers, the 42nd Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).
‘ANGELS VS. ZOMBIES’ (a.k.a ‘Dark Patch’) is a post-apocalyptic, intelligent zombie film with religious overtones. Produced, written, and directed by Saez, ‘ANGELS VS. ZOMBIES’ follows the collapse of Rome, as seven priests from the Church journey to France to be revealed to be archangels sent from God.
The film will be represented at 2018 HKIFF by TriCoast Worldwide CEO’s, Strathford Hamilton and Marcy Levitas Hamilton, who will be located at Filmart in Hong Kong at 1C-C24 from festival dates, March 19th to April 5th, 2018.
Following Paul Dose (Vincent Andres), a violent and dangerous criminal is arrested by two French police officers, David Matéry (Philippe Coste) and Sarah Bayram (Elissa Houles), where he suffers from a deathly gunshot wound, but somehow is revived and is rushed to the hospital.
Once David, Sarah, and Paul arrive at the hospital, chaos settles in as the doctors, patients, and even Sarah turn into evil-raging, violent zombies, leaving David to pair up with archangel, Victoria (Sonia Perez) and the others to stop the zombies’ mysterious “dark patch”, evil-spreading disease, from spreading outside the hospital’s walls.
Seen through brain imaging glasses as a dark spot on the frontal lobe, the “dark patch” detects and plagues individuals who are quick to be violent criminals.
Is ‘zombiism’ our future’s plague?
But, when David and the archangels learn Paul is responsible for the spread of the deathly zombiism contagious spread, the archangels fear for the entire city, as Paul becomes the “Green Rider” – one of the Four Horsemen mentioned in the sixth chapter of the Apocalypse in the New Testament.
Is evil an illness that can be cured by David and the archangels as Satan’s army of the dead in the apocalypse?
‘ANGELS VS. ZOMBIES’ features local actor, Florent Hugon as ‘Boniface’, alongside David Aboucaya, Jean Christophe Aubert, Manuel Gonçalves, Brice Lemaire, and Michel Sidobre.
