With cameras rolling on a major television network, to be announced later next week, we asked StacyK, “What’s all the drama behind the stage of these glitzy pageants, and does it have anything to do with the excitement taking place on stage for the judges?” She laughed and then avoided our question by saying, “What happens behind the scenes is just a part of the business. Competition is always a balance between seeing yourself in the mirror, and knowing without looking in the mirror: are you at your best?”
Austin, Texas, is the home of the Universal Royalty State Pageant®, well known in the pageant industry for appearances on TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras™, Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, and many other shows. Universal is not a stranger to the “glitz” business. The national pageant will take place Saturday, August 5, at the Holiday Inn, East Ben White Boulevard, in Austin, Texas. The Ultimate Grand Supreme Winner will win $10,000 cash, andthe 0-5 and 6 and up age group divisions, and the Grand Supreme, are guaranteed a $1,000 onstage prize.
In looking at Stacy Snapp-Killian’s background, she seems to have a lot of insight when it comes to understanding the pageant world. Her career as a hairstylist began in 1992. She then went on to work behind the scenes as a stylist for the Miss Arkansas preliminary pageant network and multiple local pageants in the state. But, we also discovered that, from behind the stage to onstage, she has emceed for pageants and eventually made her way to the front of the stage as a judge working the South Texas pageant circuit for over 7 years.
Additional judges announced this week for the Universal Royalty Pageants® are former Toddlers & Tiaras star Eden Wood, who’s “momager,” Mickie Wood, will also be a judge at the nationals. Universal Royalty Pageants® is well recognized for former television judges known as “The Top Hat Twins” for their colorful suits, dynamic personalities, and matching top hats with a feather.
Annette Hill, founder of Universal Royalty®, says, “Stacy will bring a fresh face to our already recognized panel of judges on television. Throw in her personality, glitz, and glamour, and she will light up the audience. I have produced pageants since 1995, all over the world, and pride myself on spotlighting some of the most popular judges and contestants to have ever been seen on major television networks.”
