The SC Nursery and Landscape Association, The SC Landscape and Turfgrass Association Becomes The SC Green Industry Association

COLUMBIA, SC – Representatives from the South Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association (SCNLA) and the South Carolina Landscape and Turfgrass Association (SCLTA) have stated that the two organizations are consolidating their efforts and merging into one new organization named the SC Green Industry Association. For more than two years, the boards of directors have been working together to make the merger as seamless as possible and help bring a higher level of quality and value to their members. The merger officially took place on June 30, 2017 and the newly named SC Green Industry Association’s website was launched on July 31, 2017.

Donna Foster, the new Executive Director for the SC Green Industry Association, has over 20 years of experience in the industry and has a familiarity with members from both organizations. Previously, Foster was the Executive Director of the SC Nursery and Landscape Association.

The board of the new association is as follows: Hank Kerfoot, Ashley McLeod, Jim van Dijk, John Hayes, Travis Higingbottom, and Dr. Ellen Vincent from the SC Turfgrass Association and Marty Cook, John McMakin, Rob Simmons, Wally Steinhauser, Kirk Young, and Michael Smith from the SC Nursery and Landscape Association. McMakin stated, “I am pleased to see that all of our efforts to join these two associations has finally paid off. The newly formed SCGIA will provide many new resources to strengthen our members and our growing industry.”

Splash Omnimedia, a full-service marketing agency located in Lexington, SC,provided the SC Green Industry Association with a new brand and oversees all marketing and advertising efforts, such as building and maintaining the association’s new website and overseeing tradeshows and other industry events. Matt Thompson, Senior Partner of Splash Omnimedia, expressed, “I am excited to partner with SC Green and increase their brand awareness through our digital marketing efforts and a responsive, customized website.”

The Mullikin Law Firm, under the guidance of Will Kinney, who has been the Executive Administrator for the SC Landscape and Turfgrass Association for several years, will be the official registered lobbyist for the new association.

Hank Kerfoot stated, “Our goal is to bring our collective membership opportunities for education, fellowship, scholarship, and outreach. As we turn the page and form this new association, we expect consolidation of overhead and services and an increased focus on reaching all corners of the state.”

In 2017, the SCNLA and the SCLTA merged to become the South Carolina Green Industry Association. The merger brings a higher level of service and value to association members.
