Superintendent​​ Jay Eitner​​ joined several dozen school system leaders who are championing dynamic digital learning for fall meeting of the ​Digital Consortium​, administered by ​AASA, The School Superintendents Association, ​Oct. 15-17, in Seattle, Wash. 

During this immersive three-day event, participating superintendents successfully leading digital transitions across the country, engaged in meaningful dialogue with their peers about emerging and successful models of combining digital content and professional development to improve student achievement. 

Highline Public Schools​ served as the host school district. The meeting included visits to Raisbeck Aviation High School, Chinook Middle School and Midway Elementary School, all in the Seattle-Tacoma area, and wrapped up with a tour of the Boeing Company. 

“Participating in the fall AASA Digital Consortium meeting—in Boeing’s backyard—was extremely meaningful. It gave all of us an opportunity to see how our students can create the future,” said Eitner. “During our visit to Aviation High School, we saw college and career readiness in action, which is such a critical issue in education today. With a 747 jet plane parked just outside the school, aviation students have a firsthand look at the aviation industry.” 

Established in 2014 by AASA, the Consortium was created to provide school district leaders the opportunity to work together as critical friends to learn, take action and gain insight into emerging and successful models of best practices using digital media in support of engaging and effective learning experiences.
