New Release Targets Highest Demographic of Mystery Readers

Enumclaw, WA – Statistically, women buy the most books; they also read the most mysteries. A survey of 1,056 found 65 percent of mystery readers were female. Commissioned by Sisters-in-Crime, the Bowker PubTrack 2010 survey also found 71 percent were over 50 years old, 15 percent were in their 40s, and 14 percent were 39 years old or under. A Northwest writer, Donna Bjorklund, has positioned her new release, Murder Blooms at Night (Redemption Press) to attract the attention of this segment of the reading public with her fast-paced, inspirational, romantic mystery.

Miranda, in her late twenties, seeks a new beginning, and clues to the disappearance of her younger sister. Leaving a successful counseling practice and a failed relationship behind in the city, she sets up a private practice in the isolated community of Stone Ridge, also a Northwest setting. When she meets Jake, a landscaper, she is invited into the world of search and rescue training using dogs. An injured woman on the trail, and a menacing stranger, draws her farther in her quest for answers—and danger. Miranda learns she is capable going beyond her fears, when she learns to trust God’s voice, and the people he has placed in her life.

Donna Bjorklund, herself a resident of the Northwest, graduated from Colorado State University, taught P. E., and now teaches dogs and their owners. Her background in search and rescue included training her dog for wilderness searches.
