Mountain Empire Unified Offers Unique Opportunity with FFA Program

As many schools are gearing education towards training students in skills that will accompany them into their future careers, Mountain Empire Unified School District has been offering students a chance to have amazing experiences in their FFA program. Founded in MEUSD in 1996, Mountain Empire’s FFA program is run by one of the district’s very own teachers, Kelly Tulloch. This program falls under the CTE – Career & Technical Education – department and is an agricultural education program.

FFA is a national student organization that welcomes those who are interested in agriculture and leadership. The program was developed to provide future farmers with opportunities to gain knowledge and experience in agriculture, and although FFA is not just for future farmers today, FFA still stands by its core values and mission. The organization is committed to providing a path for each individual student to achieve in leadership, personal growth, and successful careers. Members of the FFA can develop unique talents and explore interests through a range of agricultural experiences they would not receive outside of the program.

Although FFA is structured on a national and state level with over 600,000 members, the program cannot produce the best results without a person to champion for each student and their success. Kelly Tulloch is that person for MEUSD. Many students do not have the resources to care for their FFA animals, and Kelly Tulloch is committed to getting each student involved and providing a place in her own home for those animals.

As students enter the FFA program, every student comes to see that the program is much more than raising animals. They learn about leadership, speaking, and responsibility, skills and attributes that will carry them in future careers. FFA provides students with incredible and unique opportunities many modern students never have access to, and these experiences are maximized in their potential with the beautiful setting of the Cleveland National Forest and with the help of a fantastic teacher.
