Military Moments starts fundraiser to stay alive and keep providing holiday photos to soldiers and their families

Military Moments is a nonprofit venture started by Dustin Singleton and his mother about 10 years ago. This project is based on the idea to give back something to the soldiers who are away from their family, defending the country. Under this project, the team provides free event photos to the United States Air-force, Army and Navy.

At present, it has grown to cater more than 40 events a year including New Year’s, Valentine’s, Easter and more. Unfortunately, the project is currently struggling to stay alive due to lack of funds. The team has outgrown the ability to self-fund these events out of their own pockets and finally turned to the masses for support by launching a crowdfunding campaign on Generosity.com.

Dustin and his mother came up with the idea of Military Moments about 10 years ago. He was running a photography and print company while his mother was a merchandiser on base. With a mission to bring a little happiness to the soldiers and their families, they begin this project to offer free on-site digital green screen event photos to the enlisted soldiers and their families.

The two people project soon gained much popularity and joined over 35 events throughout the year. In the past 10 years, the project has hosted more than 250 events without any charges to the soldiers or their families but for the last Christmas event, they were forced to charge a small fee because they were unable to afford the staff and data processing for the 4000 trainees who attended the event.

The success of the Generosity campaign will ensure that Military Moments is able to upgrade their equipment, transport vehicles, backdrops, staff and data management capabilities so that they can provide free photos throughout the year. They don’t want to charge anything to the soldiers or their families and wish to continue it as a non-profit project.

The goal of the campaign is to raise $10,000 and Dustin invites contribution of any amount, big or small from the generous individuals.  If they manage to raise a good amount, they will also be able to visit more locations and host more events. As the next measure, they also want to visit the base hospitals and provide photo services to the retired personnel as well.

The backers can contribute to the campaign at generosity.com.
