IRVINE, Calif. – International award-winning KTGY Architecture + Planning is pleased to announce that Michael Tseng, director of planning for the firm’s Retail Studio, has been invited to participate as a roundtable facilitator at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) CenterBuild Conference held from November 29, 2016 – December 2, 2016, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz. Tseng will present “Tenant Coordination – A-Z,” on Thursday, December 1st, at 12 noon, as part of the luncheon roundtable program. The CenterBuild Conference is the industry’s premier retail design and construction conference.
“Successful coordination between owner, tenant and consultants can be a challenging process for the design professional,” said Tseng. “Effective communication between all parties is critical. Most importantly, differentiating the scope of work between owner and tenant is paramount to delivering a successful build-out on time and on budget.”
Tseng continues, “Design conflicts between landlord criteria and tenant expectations can occur. Addressing these differences must be handled with great sensitivity. In addition, information between third-party leasing agents and in-house leasing agents must be shared. The bidding process is also critical to a successful outcome. Therefore, it is helpful to the owner when the architect helps coordinate with the contractor.”
With more than 20 years of retail design experience with an emphasis in planning and entitlements, Tseng has been involved in the design and planning of a wide variety of projects. His extensive knowledge of the entitlement processes as well as his technical understanding of the construction document phase ensures his projects are delivered successfully. Tseng skillfully leads KTYG’s retail design team and oversees all coordination between the client, consultants and city agencies. His expertise includes new construction and renovation of regional lifestyle centers, neighborhood shopping centers and nationally-recognized retail brands.
