Culver City, CA – April 19, 2016 – Play as one, think as one, win as one. “K9 World Cup” is the triumphant story of a group of rag tag canine soccer players who are assembled by a legendary retired coach to bring honor and fame back to the Mexicanine Soccer League. Although honor and fame are ambitious, the team learns the most important life lesson of all: the road to glory is walked as a pack.
When the Mexicanine Republic becomes the host for the World Canine Cup, coach Bernard Lapata (Gary Shapiro) has one last chance to put together the best team in soccer history. The new warriors will have to learn to put aside their differences and work as a team to show their country that ultimate football glory is more than just a dream.
“K9 World Cup” features the voices of renowned L.A. Galaxy players AJ DeLa Garza, Dan Gargan, Alan Gordon and Todd Dunivant. Actor Sean Astin is the voice of Polo, the top dog on the team. Astin is well known for his film debut portraying Mikey in Steven Spielberg’s The Goonies,’ and for playing the title role in the critically acclaimed Rudy. He is best known for his role as the beloved Sam Gamgee in the Academy Award winning trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings.’ Sandra Pena is the voice of roving reporter Maisy Bernard, and the hard-to-impress love interest of Polo. Sandra is a well loved radio personality and DJ at MEGA 96.3, the wildly popular spanish radio station which serves the entire Los Angeles area.
“K9 World Cup” is a Mexican/American Production from producer Ricardo Arnaiz, and was released in theaters in Mexico. The film was co-directed by Carlos Pimentel and Nathan Sifuentes.
‘K9 World Cup’ premieres in May on DirectTV, In Demand, Dish TV, Amazon, Vudu, Google Play and Hoopla, iTunes, Sony Playstation. DirecTV will highlight ‘K9 World Cup’ with a much coveted home page banner in its premiere week.
