Future Farmers of America at Warner Unified Thrive in the Community

Warner Unified School District offers students an opportunity to explore science and agriculture outside of the classroom as a member of Warner Springs Future Farmers of America (FFA). Warner Agriculture Department supports this intra-curricular program in order to prepare students for higher education and future careers.

Warner Springs FFA was first founded in 1995 for the advancement of agricultural technology, improvement of agricultural life, and development of leadership. Today, 65 active student members attend meetings, conferences, and field trips. These students have access to over two acres of facilities: a wood shop, vineyard, and two farms. In addition, a student-run horticulture unit offers a greenhouse, aquaponic system, and a shade house.

Membership in the FFA program requires students to attend three FFA activities and complete at least 10 hours of work on an agriculturally-related project outside of the classroom each semester.

Students are specifically excited about the annual livestock and animal projects that allow them to raise animals. These animals are later displayed at the Ramona Jr. Fair, and they include a variety: goats, sheep, rabbits, steer, chicken, turkey, and swine.

Beyond the district landscape, students have the opportunity to attend leadership conferences, speech contests, and field days across the state.
