CARLAC – THE MOROCCAN ASSOCIATION OF IBN BATTUTA

A partnership agreement was concluded today between the National Council on Arab Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean Organization, known as CARLAC, based in Rabat and represented by the executive president of the council, Mr. Hassan ABDERRAHMANE, and the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, represented by Mr. Abdelaziz BENAMI. Through its relation network with many civil society organizations in both the Arab and Latin world, the partnership will organize various cultural and artistic events and activities in the framework of the second edition of the International Festival of Ibn Buattua to be held from 9 to 12 November 2017 in Tangier.

It is worth noting that CARLAC’s mission consists of developing and consolidating relations between the Arab world and Latin America and the Caribbean in fields of culture, arts, economics and trade, and issues of mutual concern to the two regions, such as the environment and sustainable development.

As in the first edition, the International Festival of Ibn Battuta will host a major event incorporating carnivals, seminars, exhibitions, artistic and creative forums, as well as screening travel-related films.

It is a great opportunity to highlight the character of the distinguished traveler Ibn Battuta, and make his unexampled achievements recognized, along with his substantial contribution in establishing the rules of multiculturalism, tolerance and respect for others.

This event is also an opportunity to further promote the city of Tangier on an international scale due to its lengthy and deep history as well as its geographical location which links the African continent to the European one, and the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

In this instance, Mr. Mohamed DEKKAK, honorary president of the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, stresses that the Council of Arab-Latin American and Caribbean Relations (CARLAC), in partnership with the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, will organize an international symposium under the heading of “The journey between the Arab world and Latin America: An Opportunity to Explore the Future of Joint Cooperation.” The seminar will feature eminent political figures and academics from Latin America and the Arab world.
