Phoenix, Arizona – July 19, 2017 – Urbix Resources is pleased to announce that Kurumi Austin has joined the company as a product development engineer. Ms. Austin graduated earlier this year with honors from the University of Arizona where she received a Bachelors Degree in Material Science and Engineering. She will play an integral role in accelerating the development of graphene-derived products, carbon refinement processes, and advanced energy storage materials at Urbix Resources.
Ms. Austin is a standout research scientist with previous experience in the characterization of materials, analysis of the optical and electric properties of materials, materials processing, and optical spectroscopy. Her undergraduate research was on complex carbon-based materials for energy storage. For this work, she was awarded first place in the Arizona State University vs. University of Arizona Materials Bowl for 2017. Before joining Urbix Resources, Ms. Austin was an intern doing research and development for a large defense contractor.

Ms. Austin will be working under Dr. Palash Gangopadhyay in Urbix’s state-of-the-art laboratory located at the ASU-sponsored LaunchPoint Technology Accelerator in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Gangopadhyay joined Urbix earlier this year as Chief Technology Officer. He is one of the most esteemed researchers working with graphene today and holds numerous patents in nanomaterials, composites, and energy storage devices.
