APD – The Seminar On Chinese Enterprises Going Global Held In Shanghai

The seminar on Chinese enterprises going global, themed “create a new era of China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) cooperation”, is being held in Shanghai on Thursday.

The seminar on Chinese enterprises going global, themed “create a new era of China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) cooperation”, is being held in Shanghai on Thursday.

The one-day event is designed to dock China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative with the ASEAN development strategy as well as enhance bilateral relations featuring mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.

The seminar will cover topics including opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese enterprises going into ASEAN countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, trade and investment facilitation in the China-ASEAN free trade zone, and the people-to-people exchange strengthened by Chinese enterprises’ business activities.

Honored guests including Dong Yunhu, chairman of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee, Yang Chonghui, vice chairman of China Economic and Social Council, Gu Jinshan, deputy secretary general of Shanghai municipal government and Gong Jianzhong, vice president of China Public Diplomacy Association address at the opening ceremony.

They shared their ideas on efforts of developing closer economic partnership, helping Chinese enterprises enter into ASEAN countries and upholding multilateral trade mechanism by China and ASEAN countries.

Dong Yunhu said that China and ASEANcountries have a huge potential for cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in the new era. The seminar will further consolidate China-ASEAN friendly relations, promote the common prosperity of the two sides and enhance well-being of more than 200 million people in the regions.

Yang Chonghui addressed that China and ASEAN countries, as two major economies committed to supporting globalization and multilateralism, will make new contributions to Asia’s and world’s economic growth by providing a broader development space and more cooperation opportunities. He said enterprises are a major force in docking China-ASEAN development strategies.

Gu Jinshan stressed the critical role Shanghai plays in cooperation with ASEAN countries. Shanghai, which highly values the bilateral friendship, will further strengthen economic, financial, technological, tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges with ASEAN countries. With the opportunities brought about by the establishment of the free trade zone and scientific and technological center as well as the new round of industrial revolution, Shanghai will also seek closer ties with ASEAN countries in innovation.

Gong Jianzhong reviewed the economic and diplomatic achievements in the past few years and predicted the cooperation prospects of China and ASEAN countries. He expressed his hope for China and ASEAN to jointly build a community with a shared destiny featuring shared values, prosperity and responsibilities.

Highly praising the key role of ASEAN under the Belt and Road Initiative, Zhao Qizheng expected more joint efforts made by China and ASEAN countries. He also noted that the public diplomacy is the key for Chinese enterprises to go global because of the differences in political, economic, and cultural environment between China and ASEAN countries.

Jin Wensheng, chairman of the Asia Pacific Daily (APD), also shared his view in the seminar.

He said that the Asia Pacific Daily (APD), as a Chinese multilingual new media platform, will serve as a bridge linking Chinese enterprises and ASEAN countries.

In addition, he stressed media’s role in helping Chinese enterprises going global. He pointed out that media is responsible for offering readers valuable information that is universal and international, through which the public trust of the media can be established. He also said that media is a platform integrating transnational business resources, especially the Chinese-run English-language media, that can set up a bridge for foreign governments and enterprises that are willing to economically cooperate with Chinese enterprises going global.

The seminar is expected to help deepen bilateral economic, trade and financial cooperation, expand the cooperation areas into infrastructure, management and personnel, and stimulate the scientific and technological innovation so as to push China-ASEAN cooperation into a new level.

The seminars on Chinese enterprises going global series, sponsored by China Public Diplomacy Association and CPPCC Shanghai Committee, have been held for six consecutive years, which has become a platform for Chinese enterprises to enhance communication with other countries and share experience and wisdom in economic development. It has also set up a benchmark for CPPCC Shanghai Committee to forge friendly foreign relations with other ASEAN countries. (ASIA PACIFIC DAILY)
