“#1MillionBrushes” Campaign Draws Support for Children in Need

Local start-up company Apple Pie Painting announces charitable donation of art supplies to underprivileged children

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – December 04, 2017 – Studies show that children who participate in art experience a wide spectrum of academic and social benefits.1 Yet many children and teens live in areas where arts education is not supported. To help remedy this, Kansas City-based Apple Pie Painting has committed to donating one million paint brushes to underprivileged children, via a non-profit children’s art education advocacy partner.

“Shortly after the launch of our painting party business, my wife April and I started shipping our used art supplies and brushes to a non-profit specializing in children’s art education,” said Apple.

Pie Painting co-founder Joey Kramer. “We believe it is our duty and obligation, as a company, to help inspire creativity across the globe, and to give back on a larger scale to promote the arts in society.”

Apple Pie Painting has devised a campaign to continue their support. They are in the process of launching their “1 Million Brushes In-Home Painting Kits” – art supply kits with everything one needs to create their own hand-crafted masterpiece. For each kit sold, the company will donate five paint brushes to art education. Nearly 1,500 brushes have been donated to date.

Pre-orders of the kits are available via an IndieGoGo fundraising page,2 offering multiple levels of support, starting at just $2. Backers can receive a variety of perks, including paints, brushes, painting canvas, a choice of downloadable art instruction videos, and an exclusive painting apron.

The first kit preorders will ship out by December 15, 2017, making them an ideal gift idea for the holidays.

The initial launch will include two painting kit options, “Classic” and “Deluxe,” plus the company’s first six instructional videos, with examples displayed on the IndieGoGo campaign page. The next six videos are scheduled to be released in February.

The “Classic” painting kit includes:

  • 18″ x 14″ canvas panel
  • attachable easel back
  • four deluxe nylon brushes
  • six-well paint palette
  • color wheel
  • one ounce each of primary paint colors
  • paint mixing plate
  • choice of downloadable video link, plus 8″ x 11″ full-color picture of the painting

The “Deluxe” kits include everything in the Classic kit, plus an aluminum tabletop easel, and an apron adorned with the Apple Pie Painting logo.
