A mother and child plant seeds and wait for sprouts in a story about patience, pride, and time spent together.

MARIETTA, GA – November 5, 2026 – Author’s Tranquility Press spotlights In The Garden To Grow, written and illustrated by Teena Marie Collins, a children’s book about growing things and making memories while working side by side. An afternoon of digging in the dirt becomes an occasion for shared discovery and the anticipation that comes with planting seeds.

A mother and child learn about helpful bees and butterflies as they wait for the first green sprouts to appear. The wait gives the story its lesson in patience. There is something to look forward to, even when the results of planting are not yet visible.

Collins also explores the pride a child feels when that effort begins to bloom. The book is intended to encourage outdoor play and build confidence, while keeping the bond between mother and child at the center. Sharing the experience matters as much as watching the garden grow.

Two activities give families a way to continue exploring after they finish the story. A Garden Steps sequencing activity invites children to think about what happens first and what follows. A garden scavenger hunt encourages them to head outside and take a closer look around.

Written for preschoolers, early readers, and families, In The Garden To Grow brings its themes into a setting full of things children can notice. Seeds, soil, bees, butterflies, and sprouts give the story a familiar, tangible world to explore with an adult. For parents, the appeal also lies in its attention to small moments that can become lasting memories.

That emphasis on family carries into Collins’s own story. Her children and extended family have filled her life with memories and laughter, experiences she values as she pursues her writing.

Read In The Garden To Grow together, then take the garden scavenger hunt outside. Find the book on Amazon.
