SILICON VALLEY, Calif. – July 14th, 2026 –<\/strong> Shira Boehler<\/a>, a health advocate, lung cancer survivor, and New York Time bestselling author of One Scan Saved My Life, has partnered with Ecosense<\/a>, a market leader in continuous radon monitors, to initiate their Radon Free Campaign, aimed at educating Americans about radon gas — the leading cause of lung cancer among people who never smoked — and improving access to early lung cancer screening through the newly-launched fund The Cancer Doesn’t Care<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The concept for the campaign came to Boehler from her personal experience as a healthy, active woman, a mother of four, who has never been exposed to tobacco all her life, and was diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer.<\/p>\n

Although cigarette smoking accounts for nearly 90 percent of lung cancers, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among people who never smoked, accounting for roughly 12,000 new cases each year. Additionally, according to the EPA, radon causes approximately 21,000 lung cancer deaths annually in the United States.<\/p>\n

Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible, colorless, odorless radioactive gas that can accumulate inside homes without any signs whatsoever.
