RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. –<\/strong> As the November election approaches, Rancho Cucamonga City Council District 2 candidate David VanGorden is taking an unusual step to demonstrate his commitment to resident engagement.<\/p>\n

Rather than waiting until after the election to discuss community priorities, VanGorden has announced the launch of a Community Listening Series and is already planning the first session, which will take place after Election Day.<\/p>\n

The initiative is designed to reinforce a message that has been central to VanGorden’s campaign: listening to residents should not end once the votes are counted.<\/p>\n

“Many residents have told me they feel politicians are highly visible when they want your vote, but much harder to find once the election is over,” said VanGorden. “I don’t believe that’s the right way to serve a community. If elected, I want residents to know they will continue to have access to me and opportunities to share their concerns and ideas.”<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional town halls or campaign events, the Community Listening Series will focus on informal conversations with residents in neighborhood locations throughout Rancho Cucamonga.<\/p>\n

VanGorden says the goal is to remove barriers that can sometimes make local government feel distant or inaccessible.<\/p>\n

“I don’t expect residents to come to me. I will come to them,” VanGorden said. “These meetings will not be held in a council chamber. They will be held in casual, comfortable locations throughout our community where residents can stop by, ask questions, discuss issues, and help shape the future of Rancho Cucamonga.”<\/p>\n

According to VanGorden, the ideas and concerns raised during the Community Listening Series will help guide his priorities if elected to the Rancho Cucamonga City Council.<\/p>\n

Topics may include public safety, homelessness, traffic congestion, infrastructure, development, quality of life issues, local business concerns, preservation of community character, and other issues identified by residents.<\/p>\n

VanGorden said the first Community Listening Session is intentionally being scheduled after the election because he wants residents to understand that the commitment extends beyond the campaign.<\/p>\n

“Listening before the election is important,” he said. “Listening after the election is even more important.”<\/p>\n

The Community Listening Series also aligns with VanGorden’s Open Door Policy and his Oath to the Residents of Rancho Cucamonga, which emphasizes accessibility, accountability, transparency, and ongoing communication with the community.<\/p>\n
