J. Alexander Law Firm has published an interactive map of the most dangerous intersections in Texas<\/a>, and five of the fifty worst crossings in the state sit in the San Antonio area. The map is built entirely from Texas Department of Transportation crash records, it is free for anyone to use, and other websites can embed it at no cost.<\/p>\n

Statewide, Texas recorded 617,930 reported crashes in 2025, and about one in four of them happened at an intersection. The firm pulled the Texas Department of Transportation Crash Records Information System public extract for the full year, isolated the crashes flagged at an intersection, and ranked all 82,846 intersections in the data. Five of the top fifty are in and around San Antonio.<\/p>\n

The highest-ranked San Antonio-area crossing was Lookout Road at Toepperwein Road in Live Oak, which logged 37 crashes in 2025 and placed 14th in the state. In Leon Valley, Bandera Road at Wurzbach Road recorded 33 crashes and 22 injuries, the most injuries of any San Antonio-area location on the list, and accounted for roughly one in five of every crash reported in that small city. Inside San Antonio itself, three crossings made the statewide fifty: Culebra Road at Zarzamora Street, with 30 crashes; Brooklyn Avenue at Euclid Avenue, with 28; and Hunt Lane at Potranco Road, with 27.<\/p>\n

What stands out locally is that none of these are highways. They are ordinary surface-street intersections that San Antonio drivers pass through on routine trips, which is exactly where a large share of the city’s wrecks happen.<\/p>\n
