In a recent post on LinkedIn, Vasquez shared that the poetry collection reflects on his life’s path—from his early days in migrant farm labor camps to years spent working on railroad and pipeline crews, and eventually, to leadership roles in state and federal government.<\/p>\n

The poet’s path takes a significant turn with military service during the Vietnam era. The transition from soldier to scholar unfolds as the poet’s academic journey leads to the University of Oregon and, later, the prestigious halls of Harvard University.
