Hallandale, FL –<\/strong> North Fish USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain packages of “Cold Smoked Capelin” due to the potential for contamination with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that can cause life-threatening botulism.<\/p>\n

The recalled product is the 9-ounce package of “Cold Smoked Capelin” with UPC code 4811527003360 and best before dates of 07.13.2024 and 01.05.2025. The product was distributed in New York and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Patriot Foods identified the potential for contamination during a routine inspection by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors, followed by further analysis by the Food Laboratory staff.<\/p>\n

The FDA urges consumers<\/a> who have purchased this product to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Do not consume the product, even if it does not appear spoiled.<\/p>\n

Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension, and constipation may also be common symptoms.<\/p>\n
