Schneider Electric plans to invest $140 million into its manufacturing operations in the US throughout 2024.<\/p>\n
The company is first set to spend $85 million transforming and equipping an existing 500,000 sq ft (46,500 sqm) manufacturing facility in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and to upgrade its Smyrna, Tennessee facility.<\/p>\n
How the remainder of the investment will be used has not been shared.<\/p>\n
Those facilities will develop custom electrical switchgear and medium voltage power distribution products to be used for critical infrastructure, industries, and data centers across the US.<\/p>\n
The Mt Juliet site is expected to begin manufacturing and shipping products by mid-2024, and to be fully operational by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
An additional 455 manufacturing workers will be added to both locations.<\/p>\n
“The need for electrical infrastructure to support advanced computing and technological progress has never been greater,” said Aamir Paul, president, North America operations, Schneider Electric.<\/p>\n
“These investments will also support implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act by strengthening domestic supply of products critical to boost America’s electrification transformation. They will also further position Schneider Electric as a driving force behind this country’s clean energy transition.”<\/p>\n
Schneider Electric has invested $440 million across its US-based manufacturing operations since 2020, including a facility in El Paso, Texas, that launched in 2023. The company also has manufacturing facilities in Lexington, Kentucky; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Mechanicsburg and Middletown, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
In November 2023, Compass Datacenters signed a deal to acquire $3bn in data center equipment from Schneider Electric.<\/p>\n
