Psychotherapist Asha Tarry is making sure caregivers are heard and seen with the launch of her new coaching program.  Caregivers<\/a> coaching is a community and coaching program for Gen X and millennial caregivers of adults with dementia, depression, or another mental illness.<\/p>\n

Tarry was inspired to create the program from her own personal experience as a 3x caregiver, including to her ailing aunt who suffered a massive stroke. <\/p>\n

“My hope is that we can  increase available services to caregivers, minimize long absences from work and premature resignation and decrease the toll on employers and the healthcare system that arises from unmet mental and physical health challenges of caregivers,” says Tarry. <\/p>\n

Within the program, participants are able to gain resources and trainings such as techniques to use when feeling overwhelmed or anxious, identifying  behaviors that lead to short-term and long-term self-sabotage, generational trauma healing and methods on how to craft long-term action plans during and after caregiving that do not leave you burnt out. <\/p>\n

Care for Caregivers specifically caters to the sandwich generation, which refers to people in their 30s- 50s, who find themselves responsible for caring for both their elderly parents and children. <\/p>\n

“In my experience providing clinical treatment to mostly millennial clients, their ability to tend to their own needs is exacerbated by other stressors such as under-employment, financial debt, and mental illness,” says Tarry. “Couple this with the sudden onset of caregiving to aging or sick parents and children, and we’re looking at another national health crisis soon.<\/p>\n

The program also serves as a transparent community where individuals can network and connect on shared experiences.<\/p>\n
