Dr. Sandra Thompson is a Las Vegas, Nevada native, born and raised. A Berkeley graduate, she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degreeat the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. After dental school, she completed her pediatric dental residency at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, one of the top children’s hospitals in the country.  She soon began practicing back home at the Desert Kids Dental practice in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

Dr. Thompson gave an exclusive interview shedding some light on the importance of children’s dentistry. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Thompson<\/a> said: “It didn’t take long before I knew that children’s dentistry would be my passion and specialty. As soon as I started working with kids in dental school, I knew this was for me.”<\/p>\n

She said: “I have a mission to educate parents about the importance of dentistry for their children. I mean, from infancy, which is a period of time that parents won’t entertain bringing their child to a dentist. Many children need procedures that assist a parent with feeding more comfortably for both mother and child, such as frenectomy treatment.<\/p>\n

I successfully perform those on babies that have tongue and lip ties. Four out of eleven babies are born with these. I can also get a sense of any pending dental issues the child may face as they grow from infant to toddler. Early detection<\/a> is the key to a healthy growing mouth”<\/p>\n
