Ideaconcert, an IT company in Korea, a global content powerhouse, announced that it has successfully developed ‘TOONTRA’, which is applied with its automatic image translation technology that can translate webtoon images, and announced that it is being operated during a trial period.

Unlike general text documents, webtoons and comics have speech bubbles, a unique expression medium for their contents, so even after translating the text, they have to go through a separate process of editing the images in the speech bubbles, and this process increases the cost-burdened webtoon producers and distributors.

Idea Concert’s webtoon image automatic translation technology using AI is characterized by automatically translating text and placing it in a speech bubble to complete the translation with a webtoon image.

A person in charge of Idea Concert, which developed an automatic webtoon translation solution, said, “We are collaborating with global translation experts to improve the quality of the first translation result through TOONTRA.” In the second half of the year, we plan to expand to the US, Japan, Brazil, China, Indonesia and Vietnam.”

TOONTRA is a compound word of TOON and TRANSLATION and is a service naming that contains the characteristics of a service that can professionally translate webtoon images.

For technical and service-related inquiries, contact MAULANA RIZKI at rizki@ideaconcert.com who is the head of overseas marketing at Idea Concert.

Media Contact
