John Wayne also believed in finding a cure for cancer. A survivor of lung cancer who ultimately succumbed to stomach cancer in 1979, the Duke was adamant about helping all people with cancer, regardless of color or creed, beat the illness. This cancer organization founded in his honor is a true, lasting legacy that he would be proud to be a part of. There is no doubt that if things were different, John would happily walk arm-in-arm with everyone participating in their unified mission to eradicate cancer from our planet.<\/p>\n
