In his words, “We are pleased to acknowledge the Government of Canada’s $82 million funding support to improve Black-led organizations’ workplaces through the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)’s Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI). Afri-Can Alliance is consistent with the Government of Canada’s long‐standing commitment to empowering Black-Canadians through community development and capacity building programs at the grass-root level.”

As Black communities continue to face great challenges in social employment and Canada’s labor market, Afri-Can Alliance leverages its strong access to strategic partners in the public, private and development sectors to upskill the Black-Canadian workforce and transform socio-economic development via approved Apprenticeship, Training and Professional development programs that align with the current labor market trends.

The Program Director, Bola Badmus said “Canada has recovered more than 80% of the jobs lost at the height of the COVID-19 crisis, but women, particularly women of color, still face far higher unemployment because they tend to work jobs in hard-hit sectors and often care for children or relatives.
