New Orleans, LA, USA – October 16, 2020 –<\/strong> Author Steven Whysel has done many things during his eighty-one years, but nothing compares to the joy he received when he published his first book last month. “The Adventurous Squirrels of Cool Waters<\/a>” is a children’s book about a family of squirrels. Not only is it amazing that Whysel wrote and published his first book at eighty-one-years-old, but also the fact that the illustrator, Quinn Chavez, is fifteen. “I put an ad on Craig’s List to find an illustrator,” Whysel said. “I had no idea the person I hired and wanted to illustrate my story was a teenager. His sample illustrations were amazing, and I knew I wanted him as the illustrator. I think we make quite the pairing.”<\/p>\n

As a young father and grandfather, Whysel has loved telling stories to his loved ones extemporaneously. During the COVID Pandemic, his wife and muse, Wendy, convinced him to put one of his stories into print. Whysel said, “I love telling stories, and I consider myself an animal whisperer, so it seemed natural to write about a family of squirrels.” In an interview with Dr. Melissa Caudle, bestselling author, and social media influencer, Whysel said, “What sets me apart from most other writers in my genre is, I believe, my ability to see and verbalize this story through the eyes of a five-year-old.”<\/p>\n
