The New Media Film Festival will hold its ninth annual edition in Los Angeles on the weekend of June 16th<\/sup> and 17th<\/sup> in Los Angeles. Hailed for making “the cutting edge accessible,” by the Huffington Post, it showcases the quickly evolving world of new media with sections dedicated to AR, AI, VR, work produced on drones and mobile phones, as well as pilots and features. The competitions are judged by industry leaders from HBO, Marvel, and Arpix Media with $45,000 of awards at stake. The festival slate includes 110 films from 40 countries, including 36 world – 7 US – 24 Los Angeles premieres.<\/p>\n

Besides envisioning the future of media, the festival also examines the future of the world itself with its opening night film, Living in the Future’s Past. Directed by Susan Kucera<\/strong> and co-producer\/host Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges<\/strong>, this documentary examines who we are and the environmental challenges we face in terms of entropy, dark ecology, and what some call “the end of nature.” Bridges is recipient of the 2018 Social Responsible Conservationist Award.<\/p>\n
