Since its introduction, the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Valley Vista Elementary has been a popular option for families in the community. As Valley Vista happily promoted its first DLI class from 6th grade at the close of  the 2017 school year, the school now is set to begin the 2018-19 school year with every kindergarten class as part of its DLI program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Valley Vista’s growing program will eventually become the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s first non-charter site to have a school-wide DLI program. Valley Vista’s DLI program provides students with instruction in English and Spanish which develops their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in both languages. <\/span>In addition to building linguistic competencies, dual immersion education builds a bridge between the diverse communities in Chula Vista, which is located just a few miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.<\/span><\/p>\n

“At Valley Vista, we strive to provide every student with the best Multicultural Education through Arts and Sciences (METAS),” said Principal Carmen Emery, Ed.D. “Demand for space in our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program has continued to increase since the program’s inception in 2011. Valley Vista Elementary is focused on providing a relevant and personalized education that provides students with skills transferable to college and career aspirations: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and civic responsibility.
